Hello Kitty Polka Dots

Hi hi :) I took off my gothic lolita nails. The 3D bow lasted a good two days until I popped it off. Anyways, current mani was influenced by the two plushies in my previous post.

The base color to three of my fingers are three coats of China Glaze Something Sweet from their Up & Away collection & then dotted with white acrylic paint. My accent nail has three coats of China Glaze Dance Baby from their Electropop collection. The yellow Hello Kitty (Mimi) bow is a nail sticker & the blue dots are China Glaze Bahamian Escape & pink dots are China Glaze Something Sweet. Then finished it off with a matte top coat. Both of the pink polishes could have been applied with two coats, but mine need three because I applied it too thin.

Since the bow is on the other side & yellow, it turns into Mimi's bow =)

I was trying to find the perfect pink that matched my Hello Kitty plushies. (all 2 coats)

1 Wet n Wild Tickled Pink - 2 China Glaze Something Sweet - 3 OPI Sparrow Me The Drama
4 China Glaze Exceptionally Gifted - 5 Sinful Colors Beautiful Girl - 6 LA Colors Bubblegum
7 China Glaze Dance Baby - 8 Sinful Colors Easy Going - 9 China Glaze Second-Hand Silk

Week 8: Corset Mani

After wearing China Glaze Gothic Lolita for two days, I was trying to think what to do to my nails before I take it off & do the corset mani. Then I thought this was a great opportunity to do gothic lolita inspired nails. Knock out two nails ideas in one mani. Lolita fashion is so awesome! Every time I go to a festival at Japantown, there's always a few people dressed as lolitas.

The base color is two coats of China Glaze Gothic Lolita from their recent Electropop collection. Gothic Lolita is a grape purple with a tiny hint of blue shimmers. There's two corsets on my pinky and middle finger for this week's challenge.I used LA Colors Art Deco in black for all the black detailing you see. I also used rhinestones, 3D bow, & black lace stickers for the rest of the detailing.

I had to see what it looked like mattified, I prefer this mani shiny.

I love the look of this mani, I'm going to wear this for a few days n__n
What do you guys think? Does it pass as gothic lolita?

Week 7: Valentine's Mani

Late in posting my weekly nail challenge, as always. Here's a mani I tried last week.

I finally tried one of Rina's nail tutorial, heart patches! I thought this was pretty easy by watching her video. Oh man, it was a whole different story once I tried to attempt the design. Haha. I couldn't keep my hand steady or get my lines thin enough. I'm happy with how it turned out on my left hand!  My other hand looks like a bunch of doodles.

The base color is China Glaze Secret Peri-wink-le and I used black & white acrylic paint for the nail art. Then used Hard Candy Matte-ly In Love for the mattified look.

Love & Money?

Valentines nails are not going well for me, so I did my mother's instead. She went through my stash & found a polish to her liking, along with stamping images. Haha, my mom would choose the $ sign.

I used three coats of Sinful Colors Beautiful Girl for the base color. I stamped the the $ with Konad Special Polish in Black from the Shany SH09 plate. The heart is stamped with Kleancolor Metallic Pink from the Bundle Monster BM202 plate.

Week 5: Newspaper Mani

My belated newspaper mani!

This was my first time doing a newspaper mani! I've seen it countless amount of times & in my head I would always go "I have to try that!" Now thanks to this challenge I finally did it! It was quite fun & very easy to achieve! I ripped an article about Chuck for my nails.

I used three coats of OPI Mermaid's Tears from their Pirates of the Caribbean collection. You can get away with two coats, but mine was a bit streaky. For the newspaper, I ripped pieces a little bigger than my nail & dipped it into water. Then I pressed it onto my nails & that's it. Easy!

Now from the beginning

3 coats of Mermaid's Tears, no top coat, newspaper transfer
I liked how it looked after I applied the newspaper, but I needed to add a top coat to seal in
the ink or else it would smear. Which it did!

Now that I'm caught up with the challenge, I need to do Week 6 before the week ends!

Week 4: Plaid Mani

Two weeks behind on this weekly year challenge! Oops! Today I caught up with the weeks I missed & did 4 & 5. The theme for week 4 is plaid mani & my first time doing a plaid mani.

The base color I used was two coats of Kleancolor Concrete Gray, the lines were done with Black, White, Sky Blue, & Vibrant from L.A. Colors Art Deco & topped with Hard Candy Matte-ly In Love. I need more practice with my lines

My Birthday Nails

Hi! I had a little break away from my blog. First I had a nail polish mishap last weekend & that just ruined my mood to do anything nail related. Eek, I fell behind on my year challenge too. Must catch up with that! & Secondly, I just celebrated my birthday this past Friday :)

Here's how I did my nails for my birthday. Colorful glitter is a must, of course! & Since the birthstone for February is an Amethyst, I chose something in the purple family for my base color, China Glaze Sweet Hook from their Electropop collection. Then I added two coats of Wet n Wild Party of Five Glitters & gave it a mattified look. I wanted my mani to look softer, so I added a layer of OPI So Many Clowns... So Little Time on top & mattified again!

Now the nail polish mishap. I broke a bottle of nail polish for the first time T___T An untried & it was a magnetic polish too! *tear tear* I turned my chair & ended up knocking a few bottles down. I managed to save some of the polish. I'm not sure how the polish broke, I think it was a collision during midair. I ended with a swirly polish design on my carpet! I googled a solution & I used the Windex method to get most of the stain out.

I also changed my layout this morning. Lots of purple for this month! Hehe.
